Looking for Some Excitement? The Princeton Police Department is looking for you to join the Police Reserve Program. Because we, the City of Princeton, have been chosen as a relocation site for the Monticello Nuclear Facility we are looking to expand our reserve officer roster to twice its current size. Currently there are six local area residents serving as Reserve Officers for the City of Princeton. Some duties of the Reserve Unit include building checks (commercial and residential), motor vehicle lockouts, security / crowd control for major events, and riding along with the patrol officers. Interested parties should contact Sgt. Joe Backlund at the police department. Or pick up an application at Princeton City Hall, 705 2nd Street North, 763-389-2040. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license, have no gross misdemeanor or felony convictions, and be in good standing within the community.
Princeton chosen as Evacuation Site The City of Princeton was chosen as a relocation site for the Monticello Nuclear Facility. If there is a nuclear emergency, residents of the City of Monticello will be directed to Princeton for decontamination and temporary relocation. Plans have been established and practiced regarding travel routes, procedural and staging areas for decontamination and housing. A combined effort of all levels of government including area law enforcement, fire and rescue, local administrations, and the Department of Homeland Security.
Payne chosen as new Chief of Police The Princeton Police Department is proud to welcome Brian Payne to his new position as Chief of Police. Payne has been with the department for about 20 years, and had been working as Interim Chief since the retirement of David Warneke the end of March. The City Council and Payne reached an agreement on Thursday May 24th and Payne officially became Chief.
